Teach the Nation to Code goes online
Teach the Nation to Code has empowered over 1,000 learners to jump into a career in tech, and we're continuing our free training online.
We’ve been hosting our popular free coding workshops, called Teach The Nation To Code (TTNTC), all over the country for the past few months, offering everyone the opportunity to learn entry-level Python skills. Our goal is to teach people these basic coding skills, giving them access to careers in our digital world.
Coding is an essential skill that is becoming increasingly important in modern society. The digital skills gap in the UK is widening and workshops like these are helping to address this issue.
We’ve now taken the workshops online and attendees are able to join from anywhere, giving the sessions a much wider scope. So far we’ve hosted 3 fantastic sessions online and trained over 100 people. The sessions have attracted attendees from a wide range of backgrounds: those with absolutely no coding experience and those looking to brush up on a few skills. We also attracted attendees from all over the country and even from India, the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Afghanistan, Pakistan, the Netherlands and Canada – we’re truly going global.
During the sessions, attendees have the chance to:
- Learn all the coding fundamentals in Python
- Know how to work with all the Python data structures: lists, dictionaries, sets, tuples
- Learn how to create safe and secure code
- Create working code using operators, conditional statements and loops
- Understand syntax in Python
- Understand how to process problems and solve them with Python code
QA trainer Muhammad Shafeeq, who has been delivering every single TTNTC session since the project’s commencement, is proud of what has been achieved in such a short space of time and is impressed by the impact we’ve made so far.
"It’s wonderful to see so many people coming together to learn a vital skill such as coding. The feedback we receive is always so positive and shows me the importance of the work we’re doing."
We are determined to continue delivering our ground-breaking training, despite the changes that have taken place over the past few months. Our impact and our reach have widened thanks to technology and forward-thinking.
