Teach the Nation to Code reaches milestone: 5,000!
QA’S Teach the Nation to Code (TTNTC) programme has inspired 5,000 learners from all backgrounds and ages into tech.
Founded in 2019, Teach the Nation to Code is a series of free one-day interactive workshops delivered by QA industry experts. Starting off on a small scale, the programme has rapidly expanded and is now reaching thousands of digital enthusiasts globally – from the UK to Canada, Saudi Arabia to Africa – and succeeded in securing a 50% female attendance.
Born out of co-founder Muhammad Shafeeq’s own experience of technology changing his life, the workshops are designed to inspire individuals who have never thought about gaining tech skills, or who have simply lacked the confidence or basic knowledge, to take the first step. For the majority of people attending Teach the Nation to Code, QA's workshops are their first interaction with the world of tech.
We believe that everything starts with our learners – transforming their careers, and their lives, is what motivates us – which is why we are proud about our milestone of teaching over 5,000 attendees to date!
To celebrate this milestone, Lou Manuel was selected as the winner of our 5,000th attendee milestone draw. Lou attended our Teach the Nation to Code: Programming workshop alongside youth empowerment organisation 2020 Change. She received a selection of exciting prizes including a laptop, a QA course of her choice and a year's access to the QA Cloud Academy!
Here’s what Lou had to say about her experience: “It honestly feels amazing to be the 5,000th learner. TTNTC gave me the opportunity to learn about something that I never had any knowledge about. I am definitely going to try and use what I’ve learned in my free time and try to perfect the craft.”
Co-founders John Gordon and Shafeeq Muhammad also had a few words to share.
"Team TTNTC are incredibly proud to reach this important milestone," said John Gordon, TTNTC Co-founder and QA Practice Director. "This is only the beginning and we can't wait to continue towards our goal of making technology accessible for anyone regardless of background."
Muhammad Shafeeq, Lead Trainer and Co-founder for TTNTC, said: "My friends! This accomplishment makes me feel extremely honoured and humble. Thank you to absolutely everyone that has been involved in making TTNTC such a success. Together we are changing the world, one coder at a time."
