This program is delivered by QA with the apprenticeship certificate awarded by SQA.

Our Cyber Security Technical Apprenticeship combines high-quality virtual classroom training with on-the-job experience to develop real world skills in information security. Our program teaches learners how to identify and mitigate against malware types, potential cyber-crime attacks, and explore ways of securing networks and services using cryptography.

This program develops a blend of technical skills across digital security, information assurance and risk management to make apprentices security aware and productive in a commercial setting.

You will be equipped to work in roles such as:

• Security Engineer
• Security Operations Analyst
• Information Security Analyst
• IT Operations

Core Units

• Supporting digital business transformation
• Applying methods and principles in project management
• Developing meta skills and personal professionalism

Typical Pathways

Mandatory Units:

• Contributing to cyber security risk assessment and risk management
• Contributing to intrusion detection activities
• Providing incident management and response
• Supporting security audit and compliance checking

Optional Units:

• Delivering threat intelligence
• Contributing to scoping and implementing security testing
• Maintaining security operations
• Performing digital forensic analysis

You'll have a whole team behind you to help you get the most out of your apprenticeship, including:

• Your line manager
• A skills coach
• A safeguarding specialist
• A learning support specialist

• Qualifications at SCQF Level 6 or equivalent.
• Good numeracy skills.
